Multiple mosques have been vandalized after the attacks in London which left seven dead

Amidst the chaos of the recent terrorist attacks in London, which left seven dead and 48 injured. retaliations have occurred in the form of vandalism towards mosques and other Islamic centers around the United Kingdom.

On Saturday, 3rd June, the Sutton Islamic Centre was spray painted by racists and Islamophobes. the messages left in black graffiti, read ‘Terrorize your own country’ and ‘Go away’. The vandalism is currently being investigated, the attackers are yet to be caught.

On Monday, 5th June, Zaheer Iqbal posted an image on Facebook, of the side of Thornsby mosque, spray painted with the words "Muslims Cowards". the poster captioned the image with the message to the suspect, "Graffiti at Thornaby Mosque. This is an invite to the person if you are seeing this post to come and visit me and the Muslim Community. I promise no one will touch you. Come and learn about Islam from a Muslim, not the media." It has been unreported if the police were contacted regarding the vandalism.

Harun Khan, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain released a statement condemning the London attacks on behalf of Muslims, "Muslims everywhere are outraged and disgusted at these cowards who once again have destroyed the lives of our fellow Britons. That this should happen in this month of Ramadan when many Muslims were praying and fasting only goes to show that these people respect neither life nor faith."
