For the past week, multiple mosques around the US have received threatening letters sent by a perpetrator, who has called himself the 'Muslim Slayer', the person is suspected to be from Sheffield, England.
Currently, six mosques have reported as to having received the threatening letter; four mosques around the city of Atlanta, Georgia, Masjid Bilal Ibn Rabah in Lexington, Kentucky and Masjid Al-Iman in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Three of the four Georgia mosques received identical emails, from the "Muslims Slayer" a few weeks prior, threatening widespread attacks against American Muslims on March 15. The emails were subjected as "YOUR ONE WARNING," the content of the email read, ".MUZLIMS MEXICANS BLACKS WE WILL HUNTED NATION WIDE UNTIL ARE ARE DEAD OR GONE. PLAN TO RUN OR DIE, THIS IS A KINDNESS THAT WE GIVE YOU ALL WARNING, TAKE IT AND GO.”"
Greenview Madani Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia, received a handwritten letter from Sheffield, England, reading, "Death is waiting for you and your kind", which featured a character being beheaded. A similar letter was sent to New Jersey mosque, Masjid Al-Iman, with the letter reading, “You and your filthy kind will be beheaded,”. the sword of both illustrations beheading the caricature read, "Muslim Slayer".
On March 4th Kentucky-based mosque Masjid Bilal Ibn Rabah received a similar letter in the mail, sent from the same location but this time the mailer issued a bomb threat to the mosque. the letter contained a Green index card wrapped in a blank sheet of paper, with the words written, “An explosive device will be placed at your mosque very soon!”.
A Virginian Mosque received a threatening note on Tuesday, February 28th from England. Reports indicate that all of the letters received are from the same source
The Council on American-Islamic Relations(CAIR) representative Jim Sues, in a press release made a statement, "We urge local, state and federal law enforcement authorities to treat this and all the other cases of threats and violence targeting American mosques with the seriousness they deserve and to bring the perpetrators to justice, many faith communities, including Muslims, are increasingly alarmed by hateful acts committed by those who have been emboldened by the current political climate.”
