Anniesa Hasibua has engraved her name in history after becoming the first fashion designer to bring in a collection of outfits, all featuring the hijab, to New York Fashion Week. The Indonesian-born Muslim designer showcased her varied collection of outfit, every look has a model adorned with a headscarf.
Anniesa's collection totaled 48 looks with hijab-wearing models wearing colorful patterned skirts, trousers, suits, kimonos, tunics, and gowns. Her collection is heavily influenced by her cultural background and complimented by her Islamic faith.
Anniesa's inspirations gives heed to her hometown of Jakarta. Most of her outfits are brightly colored Jacquard fabric and are lined with heavily decorated intricate lace designs. An Instagram post reflected her influences from her hometown, "Famously known for its unique styles reflecting the rich cultural diversity, this Capital of Indonesia inspires Anniesa to once again present another remarkable face of Indonesian stunning ethnic mosaics."
She wrote a description of her pattern work on Instagram, "For the patterns, Anniesa uses printing techniques for belt and batik to add the Indonesian touch and her bold signature characters." Illustrating the colors she uses, "As for the colors, earthy tone combined with gold, green and peach, will dominate these intricate designs."
Hasibua thanked her supporters on her Instagram account, "Salaaaam Muslims of the world and all of you, beautiful people... Thank you so much for supporting me and D'JAKARTA, my latest design for NYFW The Show, Spring/Summer Collection 2017".
